Volunteer Board Director

The Aboriginal Women & Children's Crisis Service (AWCCS) is dedicated to supporting Aboriginal women and children escaping domestic and family violence. Through safe refuge and trauma-informed practices, we empower families and rebuild futures while placing cultural safety at the core of our services.
About the RoleWe are currently looking to recruit a number of Board Directors to join our team.
Key Duties- Provide strategic direction and governance oversight to AWCCS
- Ensure compliance with ACNC and other legal / governance standards
- Contribute skills in areas such as finance, philanthropy, people and culture, homelessness and / or domestic violence expertise, governance, fundraising, or community / government relations
- Promote culturally safe and trauma-informed practices
- Participate inboard meetings held every two months, withremote attendance fully supported
- Support strategic planning and organisational policy development
- Assist in advocacy, fundraising, and stakeholder engagement activities
- Monitor organisational performance against the strategic plan
- Support the Service Manager in leading initiatives that promote staff wellbeing and a healthy workplace culture
- Engage in a collaborative Board environment, which may include responding to approvals or issues outside of scheduled meetings
