About the role:

Take the next step in your career at WAIS, we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Athlete Wellbeing and Engagement Advisor We are offering an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to step into a pivotal role that empowers high-performance athletes and para athletes to thrive — not just in sport, but in life.

As the Senior Athlete Wellbeing and Engagement Advisor, you\'ll play a key role in helping categorised athletes and para athletes build the life skills and resilience needed for sustained success. You\'ll guide them through critical transitions into, within, and beyond high-performance sport, all while promoting a Win Well culture that values wellbeing alongside performance. In addition, you'll work closely with the Psychology & Wellbeing Lead to:

  • Coordinate a team of practitioners
  • Deliver operational priorities across wellbeing services
  • Design and deliver projects that benefit the wellbeing of athletes across WAIS
  • Maintain high standards of professional practice in your discipline

About you:

  • You have an undergraduate qualification, or equivalent industry certifications in a relevant field such as education, career development, social work, counselling, financial planning, and sports management.
  • You have at least 5 years\' experience in a related position, including:
    • Developing and implementing a range of athlete focused personal development, education, and career interventions.
    • Managing case load and triage processes, ensuring appropriate care and referral.
    • Supporting athlete transitions through the high-performance pathway, with a deep understanding of critical success factors at key transition points.
    • Providing tailored support to athletes during difficult times for example injury, non-selection, relocation or incidents.
  • You have contemporary knowledge of athlete wellbeing issues within Australia's high performance sport system, with an ability to develop and deliver programs that proactively address these issues.
  • You know about the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and how athletes can use it to support their goals.
  • You maintain strong relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • You collaborate effectively in high-performance, interdisciplinary teams; prioritising team goals, solving problems through constructive debate, and applying lessons to enhance future success.
  • You deliver high-performance results under pressure and set high-performance standards, taking responsibility and accountability for tasks.
  • You inspire and engage others to adopt ideas and commit to actions, including educating athletes and parents to facilitate high-performance behaviour change.
  • You have or are able to attain a Working with Children Check and National Police Criminal History check.
  • You are a genuine team player that cares about others and always acts with kindness and integrity.

This position is full time, 30 hours per week, maximum term until December 2028 with the potential to extend.
