Overview

GHD is hiring a Civil Dams Engineer in Northern Australia. The role can be based in any Northern Australia office location and offers the opportunity to work on complex dams and hydropower projects, lead, innovate, and make a lasting impact. Salary range: A$160,000 - A$180,000 per year. Northern Australia offers a dynamic environment with diverse outdoor amenities and a lower cost of living to support career advancement.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, you will be involved in a variety of work and projects related to dams and tailings, with a focus on delivering safe, sustainable water infrastructure for communities.

Responsibilities
  • A broad range of dams projects including water dams and tailings dams for municipal, mining, agriculture and hydropower uses, particularly throughout Northern Australia.
  • Providing technical delivery with a focus on geotechnical, structural and/or design management skills, applied to dams and/or tailings projects.
  • Actively participate in client relationship management, business development, development of proposals, reports and technical analysis. Opportunities to develop client relationships and business development skills under mentorship from team leaders, market leaders, and senior engineers.
What you will bring to the team
  • Ideally more than 3 years of post-graduation experience in dams engineering.
  • Chartered RPEQ engineer status preferred or working towards this status.
  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Civil) or higher.
  • Knowledge of the design of a broad range of dam types, including embankment and concrete dams.
  • Knowledge of Queensland dam safety legislation (advantage).
  • Knowledge of elements such as spillway design, dam design, outlets and intake towers, hydropower facilities, dam safety and risk assessments, and construction phase experience.
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams including geologists, structural, hydraulic, hydro-mechanical and electro-mechanical engineers.
