In this permanent full-time role, based at Epworth Richmond, you will lead the delivery of emergency medicine services to over 30,000 presentations each year, with direct clinical services across thirty-one treatment spaces including two resuscitation bays and a fast-track cubicle area. You will provide leadership, governance, and strategic vision to a strong and diverse team in the Emergency Department.

The role includes overseeing a headcount of 80+ emergency physicians, career medical officers and registrars, working with the Nurse Unit Manager and the Critical Care Services Manager to ensure a strong, collegiate team-based approach.

Emergency Medicine in Australia is evolving; Epworth aims to deliver safe, high-quality, evidence-based care to maximise patient health outcomes and experience, while maintaining efficiency and financial viability.

This maximum term role will contribute to internal or external reviews to ensure excellent patient care and a cohesive working environment.

• Provide expert supervision, advice and mentoring to medical staff to support delivery of safe, evidence-based care
• Collaborate with nursing leadership to improve health outcomes and patient experience
• Communicate effectively with inpatient services to ensure safe patient handover
• Monitor consumer service delivery with a strong focus on person-centred care
• Maintain strong budgetary oversight
• Contribute to reviews of emergency service provision and employment models
• Undertake duties within the ED and hospital with representation on required committees

• Current, unencumbered Specialist AHPRA registration
• Fellowship with the Australian College of Emergency Medicine (FACEM)
• Significant experience in emergency medicine services; private sector experience advantageous
• Demonstrated experience and knowledge of clinical governance and related frameworks
• Leadership experience is valued but not essential
• Working rights to work in Australia
