  • Golang: primary backend language for scalable, maintainable, high-performance services.
  • AWS Lambda & Serverless: cloud-native, cost-effective compute.
  • AWS Ecosystem: S3, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, and more to power automation and data pipelines.
  • Automation & AI: integrate AI tools (GPT, Copilot, Claude, Cursor) and build internal automation.
  • CI/CD & Infrastructure as Code: CI/CD pipelines; Terraform, CloudFormation.
  • Monitoring & Observability: Datadog, CloudWatch for instrumented systems.

  • Support and triage Collect platform requests: own triage and resolution of Collect platform support requests, aiming for automation or self-service for recurring issues.
  • Stakeholder communication: own communication with key stakeholders throughout triage and resolution processes.
  • Mentorship: support and mentor less experienced engineers and data analysts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain automation solutions to reduce manual work and improve operational efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI and internal tooling to solve business problems.
  • Triage, investigate, and resolve Collect platform support requests with cross-team collaboration.
  • Communicate updates and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Document solutions, runbooks, and best practices for knowledge sharing.
  • Mentor junior engineers and data analysts; provide code reviews and technical leadership.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, high-performing team culture.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong technical skills in software engineering with experience in automation, scripting, and AI tool integration.
  • Hands-on experience with Golang, AWS Lambda, and event-sourcing architectures.
  • Familiarity with AWS services (S3, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, etc.) and serverless/cloud-native patterns.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality, maintainable, and testable code.
  • Experience triaging and resolving support requests, ideally in a platform or operations context.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting less experienced team members.
  • Proficiency with AI tools (e.g., GPT, Copilot, Claude, Cursor) and willingness to experiment with new tech.
  • Comfortable in a hybrid environment (Sydney-based, in-office Tue–Thu preferred).
  • Alignment with InDebted's values: ownership, curiosity, resilience, and impact.

Expectations & Growth

  • This role aligns with the company's expectations for Software Engineer and Senior Software Engineer.
  • Engineering Craft: write clean, maintainable, and testable code; improve codebases and workflows.
  • Technical Leadership: mentor peers, lead technical discussions, and drive team alignment.
  • Execution Accountability: deliver reliably, plan effectively, and communicate progress and risks.
  • Product Impact: understand user needs, shape solutions, and align engineering work to business outcomes.
  • Value Alignment: demonstrate ownership and adaptability.
  • Tooling & Innovation: drive automation and leverage AI to improve team effectiveness.

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a team driving real change through automation and AI.
  • Work on impactful problems that touch every part of the business.
  • Collaborate with talented, mission-driven colleagues.
  • Grow your skills in a supportive, learning-focused environment.
  • Help shape the future of collections technology.
