Who we are
Australia's unique natural and cultural heritage includes distinctive land and seascapes, home to unique flora and fauna, and some of the world's oldest living cultures. These environments are central to our national identity, attracting visitors from across Australia and around the world. The Director of National Parks oversees six national parks, the Australian National Botanic Gardens, 58 Australian Marine Parks, and the Heard Island and McDonald Islands Marine Reserve, established under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999. Parks Australia, a division of the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, supports the Director and manages these areas, showcasing their natural and cultural significance and inspiring community engagement.
Kakadu National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site for its natural and cultural values, is leased by its Aboriginal owners and jointly managed by Traditional Owners and Parks Australia. Parks Australia assists with the ongoing management of the park's natural and cultural heritage.
The Kakadu Future, Planning and Permits Section leads strategic initiatives for Kakadu National Park, including new leases, joint management reforms, and the next management plan, as well as supporting park operations such as permit management and assessments.

The job
- Plan, lead, and manage complex projects, ensuring delivery within budget, deadlines, with proper governance, risk management, and stakeholder reporting.
- Prepare high-quality advice and written materials—briefs, talking points, papers, and reports—for the Board of Management, senior executives, the Minister's Office, and the Minister.
- Consult and collaborate with joint management partners and key stakeholders by:
> Establishing and maintaining effective relationships.
> Leading and participating in committees and working groups to influence cooperation on strategic and operational issues.
> Coordinating reporting against the management plan.
> Facilitating meetings and workshops, and representing the section and organisation as needed.
Contribute to operational planning and evaluation processes within the section and branch.Provide leadership across Parks Australia by motivating, developing, and leading a small, diverse, and geographically dispersed team.#J-18808-Ljbffr-
