The role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Civil Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will gain experience across a wide range of activities including asset management, forward planning, design, and the project management of Council infrastructure. This is a great chance to develop your skills while contributing to projects that support and improve our community. This is a Temporary Full-Time position until December 2027.

Duties
  • Assist in planning, designing, and delivering civil infrastructure projects including roads, stormwater, and public spaces.
  • Prepare project documentation including project planning investigations, reports, cost estimates and risk/needs assessments.
  • Contribute to asset planning through data analysis, mapping, and digitisation using GIS and engineering software.
  • Prepare designs using CAD and support project delivery.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including utilities and government agencies.
  • Respond to civil infrastructure enquiries and correspondence.
  • Assist with grant funding applications and reporting.
  • Collaborate with other departments and support broader CBCity projects as required.
  • Ensure projects comply with relevant legislation, standards, and Council policies.

You will have
  • Degree qualifications in Civil Engineering.
  • Current Class C Driver Licence.
  • Foundational knowledge of surveying, design, documentation, and project management, particularly for road, traffic, drainage, building, and open space projects of limited scale and complexity.
  • Understanding of preparing construction cost estimates.
  • Basic proficiency in civil engineering and drafting software.

Desirable (but not essential): Experience with Australian engineering design standards, civil engineering software (AutoCAD/12D), GIS tools, and surveying equipment.

Salary starts at $71,820 (Grade D, Step 1) + Super.
