The Team:
The Office of the Chief Nurse and Midwifery Officer (OCNMO) is a small, high-performing, outcomes-focused team. We support the advancement of the nursing and midwifery professions to enable the delivery of high-quality healthcare to the Tasmanian community.
The OCNMO provides strategic leadership and professional practice advice on a diverse range of issues relating to the nursing and midwifery professions. Our priorities include, but are not limited to, strategic planning, policy, workforce, research, education, and training locally, nationally, and internationally.
The Role:
Under the broad direction of the Chief Nurse and Midwifery Officer (CNMO), the Assistant Director of Nursing and/or Midwifery will:
- Provide senior leadership and strategic policy development for nursing and/or midwifery professional practice across the Agency.
- Assist the CNMO in budget and resource management of the Office of the Chief Nurse and Midwifery Officer.
- Build and maintain productive networks with internal and external stakeholders to improve and enhance nursing and/or midwifery policy and practice statewide.
A key focus of the role will be leading the strategic midwifery policy and professional practice portfolio.
You will need:
- Extensive knowledge and experience in developing and implementing nursing and/or midwifery policy/standards to support key strategic priorities, workforce development, and professional practice.
- Broad and demonstrated understanding of strategic issues related to the current healthcare system and knowledge of national and international trends in nursing and/or midwifery workforce and service delivery.
- Demonstrated leadership ability to develop and maintain productive networks with stakeholders and support effective teamwork within the unit.

Details of appointment:
This is a permanent, part-time, day worker position, working up to 64 hours per fortnight, starting as soon as possible.
Hours are negotiable with the successful applicant. Note: This selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar vacancies for up to twelve months from the date of publication.
Salary: $138,478 per annum pro-rata. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is additional.
Salary is in accordance with the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

Eligibility:
Applicants must meet the following essential criteria:
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife.
Desirable criteria include:
- Current Driver's Licence.
- Relevant postgraduate qualification.
