Precision Neuroscience is a US-based company pioneering a brain-computer interface (BCI) to restore communication and independence for people with neurological conditions. Our technology enables people with paralysis to control digital devices with their thoughts, opening new possibilities for daily life. We are seeking motivated and technically rigorous Machine Learning Engineers and Scientists to work in our NYC or Santa Clara (California) offices with a deep passion for neurotechnology and human-centered AI. The role focuses on building real-time, robust ML systems that interpret high-dimensional neural data.

Compensation: $150,000 - $300,000 / year

ResponsibilitiesIn this role you will bring cross-disciplinary expertise to the intersection of machine learning, signal processing, neuroscience, and biomedical engineering. You will work on fast-paced, collaborative projects with a focus on translating research into working systems that impact lives. Specific areas include:
- Design and implement real-time ML systems that interpret neural data for decoding and control
- Develop robust ML pipelines and integrate with hardware, firmware, and front-end interfaces
- Collaborate with software, hardware, clinical, and UX teams to deliver end-to-end solutions
- Contribute to cross-functional product development and ensure compliance with regulatory constraints
Preferred Technical Skills
- Machine Learning & Deep Learning: RNNs, LSTMs, CNNs; real-time inference optimizations
- Signal Processing & Decoding: spike sorting, LFP, ECoG feature extraction; denoising, filtering, spectral analysis; ICA/PCA; experience with neural data a bonus
- Real-Time Systems & Infrastructure: low-latency inference pipelines; edge deployment; streaming architectures
- Programming & Tools: Python (PyTorch, Tensorflow, NumPy, scikit-learn); Kubeflow, MLFlow, Airflow; Docker/Kubernetes; AI/Robotics (OpenCV, ROS2, Kaldi); AWS (Sagemaker, Kinesis, S3, EC2, Lambda, CloudWatch, EMR, etc.)
Preferred Experience
- Strong publication record in major AI conferences; patents are a plus
- Experience developing real-time ML algorithms with high-volume data (image/video/audio) in embedded real-time systems
- Experiment design to gather training data; collaboration with software engineers and clinical teams
- Proven experience shipping ML-powered products in production, especially in high-stakes or real-time environments
- End-to-end systems development from signal acquisition to live neural decoding in clinical or research settings
- Developed robust ML pipelines that integrate with hardware, firmware, and front-end interfaces
- Cross-functional collaboration with software, hardware, clinical, and UX teams
- Familiarity with FDA, HIPAA regulatory and performance constraints for deployable neurotech or medical devices
