CloudOps Engineer - AWS - Relocate to Sydney

Senior Cloud Operations Engineer responsible for maintaining cloud infrastructure through IaC, with emphasis on operations, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization to ensure maximum uptime and performance. Some design/build components and collaboration with cloud providers to manage resources, configure auto-scaling, load balancing, and disaster recovery strategies. This role requires 24x7 availability coordination with operations, engineering, and client services.

• Maintain cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize cloud resources for uptime and performance.
• Manage cloud resources with providers, configure automatic scaling, load balancing, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Perform system updates and patches; work on design/build components as needed.
• Collaborate with hardware and software teams to optimize system performance.
• Identify root causes and patterns to develop long-term solutions.
• Coordinate with operations, engineering, and client services to ensure cloud services are available 24x7.

• Proficient with automation using PowerShell/Bash scripting.
• Deep knowledge of supporting and managing AWS Cloud environments using native AWS tools.
• Experience with AWS CodeCommit, CodeBuild, CodePipeline and GitLab.
• Experience with AWS VPCs, VPC peering, VPC endpoints, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect.
• EC2 (Linux and Windows), Load Balancers, Auto Scaling Groups, RDS.
• S3, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, CloudWatch Logs, Events & Alarms, AWS Athena queries.
• Security Hub, GuardDuty, Firewall Manager, Config & IAM Analyzer.
• Managed NAT, ECS Fargate, Internet Gateway & Route 53.
• AWS Backup, Systems Manager, EFS (SMB-based, TBC), Lambda & Kinesis Data Firehose.
• Strong in AWS Organizations, OUs & Service Control Policies.
• Hands-on experience with RHEL-based Linux and Windows OS.
• Excellent customer support experience and ability to operate in a compliance environment.
• Experience in a Microsoft environment; strong communication and stakeholder presentation skills.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical skills, and ability to prioritize/workload.
• Collaborative, with a track record of building relationships with business and technology stakeholders.
• Managed Services and ITIL experience preferred.
