Your Role
As a Casework Support Worker, you will be an integral part of the child protection team, helping Child Protection Caseworkers in their day-to-day work. You will contribute to keeping children, young people, families, and communities in varied and challenging circumstances safe by undertaking tasks that support case planning and documentation, referrals and appointments, case visits, and day-to-day team priorities.
No two days will be the same. One day you will be helping caseworkers prepare documentation or assisting with case planning for children and young people, and the next day you'll be sourcing and sharing information about families and making referrals or appointments.
Whether you are Indigenous and have some experience working within your community and/or have a Diploma or are currently completing your degree in social work, social science, or a related field, this is a role for you to gain significant experience working within the Child Protection field.
Ideally, you will have:
- Some experience working with vulnerable and diverse groups in the community
- The ability to organize work and prioritize workload in a busy work environment
- Strong record-keeping skills or the willingness to learn
- A passion for supporting the work of child protection caseworkers
What we need:
- A Diploma in welfare/community services and/or relevant equivalent work experience
- Applicants working towards completing a Bachelor of Social Work or social science degree are strongly encouraged to apply as we will consider this as part of relevant skills and experience
- Current Working with Children number or willingness to apply for one.
We focus on hiring people who share our commitment and goals of inclusion, collaboration, adaptability, courage, and integrity. If you meet the essential requirements and the role resonates with you, please apply – you do not need to meet every desired requirement for us to want to talk to you.
We do work that really matters
Working for the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) provides lots of opportunities to make a real difference.
