About the Opportunity
The WHSE Advisor is responsible for supporting the execution of industry-leading WHSE frameworks, systems, risk reduction activities and processes to support delivery of the overall WHSE strategy.
Whilst this role is more operational in nature, an understanding of the WHSE Management System context is key to provide effective support in the coaching and mentoring the workforce in effective use of systems and frameworks so as to successfully deploy them. This role will support all aspects of ASC's WHSE programs and initiatives, including but not limited to on ground support, WHSE risk reduction and assurance activities.
The WHSE Advisor will support the continuous improvement effort in accordance with the WHSE strategy. The role will also be key in coordinating the WHSE consultation and communication efforts with the workforce to ensure implementation of efficient and effective WHSE processes which are aligned to strategic WHSE outcomes.
This is a full-time opportunity based at our Osborne site in SA.
Responsibilities
- Partner with key stakeholders enabling the development and review of risk assessments, safe operating procedures, high risk activity reviews and observations.
- Provide advice and guidance to the business in relation, but not limited to key WHSE operational activities in line with WHSE legislation, ASC's policies and procedures and as per the WHSE proactive operating model.
- Support key stakeholders in implementation of risk reduction activities.
- Facilitate the incident investigation process and make recommendations to the WHSE Lead when incident requires notification to the applicable regulators (Comcare, EPA etc).
- Develop & maintain relationships with key employee stakeholders (management, team leaders, HSRs etc.) to engage and gain a greater operational context and understanding of our organizational goals and how WHSE strategies can assist in the achievement of these goals.
- Review and maintain processes to optimize the conduct of WHSE assurance activities in line with our Safety Critical Risk Program.
- Proactively identify processes within the WHSE that would benefit from improvements and recommend the appropriate action.
About you
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in workplace health and safety management, environmental science, engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience, 2 of which in a senior systems role.
- Proven knowledge and comprehension of Work Health and Safety and Environment Legislation and application of relevant standards.
- Proven working knowledge of High Risk Activities, coupled with environmental requirements and controls.
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of incident investigation methodologies (ICAM).
- Proven ability to establish relationships and strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders across numerous departments and organisations.
Eligibility
This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
