Investment Associate – Growth Capital (Sydney)

We're hiring for a new position within a fast-growing Growth Capital strategy based in Sydney. This strategy was established in 2021 as part of the Growth Capital division of a well-capitalised family office and has gone from strength to strength. Following the successful raise and deployment of its first fund, and the subsequent close of a second, the team is now in the process of raising its third fund—driving continued growth and the need to expand the team.

The broader investment team consists of 13 professionals working across a range of mandates. Within Growth Capital, the current team includes a Senior Portfolio Manager and one Investment Associate.

About the Role

The Growth Capital team invests in early-stage, high-growth companies—primarily in the tech sector—with revenues between $5M–$20M. These businesses are often loss-making but are backed by leading venture capital firms and demonstrate strong growth potential.

The fund provides flexible capital solutions, including senior secured loans, preferred equity, and warrants. As an Investment Associate, you'll be involved across the full deal lifecycle:

  • Conducting due diligence, including financial analysis and market research
  • Preparing and presenting investment papers to the Investment Committee
  • Supporting portfolio management, including engagement with founders, executives, and board members

About You

We're looking for candidates with a strong interest in the Australian start-up and growth company ecosystem. This could be demonstrated through professional experience or personal involvement in the space. You may come from investment banking, corporate banking, Big 4 (transaction services, valuations, or deals), or a similar background.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • 2–5 years of relevant post-university experience
  • Strong financial modelling and analytical skills
  • An understanding of lending or credit structuring (advantageous but not essential)
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with the confidence to contribute in a small, collaborative team
