City Of Stirling, Australia RWWA Full time

Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) is at the heart of WA's racing and wagering industries. As a government trading enterprise, we regulate and develop the State's racing sector and operate the TAB – a multifaceted wagering business with a presence across more than 300 retail outlets and a growing digital platform. Our work protects the integrity of racing and wagering, strengthens industry sustainability, and delivers value to the WA community. We are proud to be an organisation driven by our values of Respect, Accountability, Connection, and Excellence.

About the Role

Due to an internal movement, we have an opportunity for a skilled Cyber Security Operations Specialist to join our Technology Division. Reporting to the Cyber Security Operations Team Lead, you will work alongside the Engineering and GRC teams to ensure effective detection, containment, and resolution of cyber events. You'll be actively involved in incident response, threat hunting, vulnerability triage, and the tuning of security platforms to keep pace with an evolving threat landscape.

In this role, you will:

  • Monitor security tools and managed alerts, perform triage, and respond in line with defined playbooks.
  • Investigate and contain security incidents, supporting remediation and root cause analysis.
  • Assist with vulnerability management activities and track remediation progress.
  • Contribute to proactive threat hunting and refine detection rules and alerts.
  • Participate in cyber security simulations and exercises to strengthen readiness.
  • Develop and maintain operational playbooks, runbooks and incident handling documentation.
  • Support awareness initiatives, including phishing simulations and user education.
Qualifications

About You

You are a motivated and proactive cyber security professional with a passion for defending against threats and a drive to continuously improve operational capabilities. You bring a blend of technical skill, analytical thinking, and a collaborative mindset that enables you to work seamlessly with peers across technology functions.

You will bring:

  • Experience in security operations platforms such as SIEM, endpoint protection, vulnerability management platforms, application control, ZTNA and cloud-native detection tools.
  • Proficiency in reviewing logs, triaging alerts, and conducting investigations using endpoint, network, and cloud telemetry.
  • Understanding of incident response processes, threat intelligence, and vulnerability management.
  • Awareness of frameworks including NIST CSF 2.0, and the WA Government Cyber Security Policy.
  • Familiarity with identity and access models and common attack techniques (MITRE ATT&CK).
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain security issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Willingness to potentially participate in a rotating on-call roster to support out-of-hours incidents.
  • Industry experience in cyber security or a closely related technology field. A tertiary qualification in information technology or cyber security, and/or relevant certifications, will be highly regarded.
Why Join Us?

At RWWA, you'll join a cyber security team that's serious about staying ahead of threats and building resilience into every layer of our technology. This is your opportunity to work with modern tools, gain exposure to a diverse range of security challenges, and contribute to a function that is valued across the organisation.

We offer:

  • Variety and challenge – work across a broad range of threats, incidents, and platforms.
  • A team that has your back – collaborate with passionate, skilled cyber professionals.
  • Growth and development – access to a personal learning & development budget, and industry-leading tools.
  • Flexibility that works for you – hybrid work options, flexible hours, and supportive managers.
  • A workplace built for people – brand-new offices with wellness spaces, end-of-trip facilities, and modern collaboration zones.
  • Recognition that matters – competitive remuneration, employee discounts, and reward programs celebrating your achievements.
  • Purpose and pride – play a critical role in safeguarding an organisation with deep roots in the WA community.
