Your role

The Engagement and Awareness Officer is part of the Office of the Women's Safety Commissioner, supporting initiatives to raise awareness of women's safety issues and engaging the community on domestic, family, and sexual violence.

About the team

The Office provides oversight, leadership, and advice to improve women's safety in NSW. Key activities include media engagement, social media content creation, communication projects, and supporting public events.

What you'll do
  • Create communication materials for various channels and audiences.
  • Develop social media content with the Commissioner for quick turnaround.
  • Coordinate media outreach aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Manage awareness projects, including logistics and stakeholder engagement.
  • Use research to inform engagement strategies and target audiences.
  • Prepare reports, budgets, and discussion papers for stakeholders.
  • Advise on communication for campaigns and programs.
What we're looking for
  • Experience in planning and implementing effective communications in a dynamic environment.
  • Hands-on social media strategy and content creation skills, including Canva and management tools.
  • Knowledge of community management and handling contentious issues.
  • Understanding of government operations, media, and political processes.
  • Experience supporting senior leaders is advantageous.
