Our Water Division is experiencing significant growth, presenting the opportunity for a Principal Design Manager based in our Brisbane office. This position is crucial for providing technical expertise and to lead technical teams to develop and deliver the most appropriate technical solution for key water and wastewater projects in Queensland.

• Coordinate all multi-disciplinary activities and inputs by the technical team, including specialist inputs, to ensure an integrated technical solution.
• Deliver outputs on time and to an appropriate quality.
• Bring a can-do solution-focused attitude to our projects.
• Lead engineering projects and manage internal engineering disciplines as well as subcontractors.
• Support delivery teams during design and construction, acting in a senior leadership and management role on projects. Develop strong client relationships.
• Undertake internal technical reviews and verification checks on all aspects of water and wastewater projects.
• Focus on the development of our water and wastewater project delivery expertise, locally and across the ANZ business.
• Identify opportunities and develop high level relationships with key utility clients and future water-focused clients in line with Stantec business strategies.
• Assist in the pursuit and proposal phase of key business development opportunities.
• Contribute to proposal and bid development to support business development activities, including preparing proposals and ensuring that proposals are prepared to a high standard.
• Facilitating design coordination and review meetings with clients and stakeholders, including knowledge of engineering assurance processes and a systems approach to design reviews.
• Prepare contract technical specifications, scope of works and technical schedules.

• Tertiary Qualification in relevant Engineering field along with CPEng and RPEQ (or ability to obtain).
• At least 10 years civil or process-mechanical water infrastructure engineering experience – design and construction.
• Exceptional leadership abilities including managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams.
• Advanced knowledge of water and wastewater services and the delivery environment.
• Highly developed problem solving and negotiation skills to resolve disputes that arise.
• Strong understanding of D&C or alternative delivery projects.
• Solid report writing with the ability to tell a compelling story.
