The Hospital Aides assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment and adequate stock supply to enable clinical staff to deliver a high standard of care to patients in the ward/unit.

The Role:

Under the supervision of the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM), the Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM), and/or the Department Manager, the Hospital Aides role involves:

  • Maintaining a safe and clean environment and ensuring adequate stock supply (excluding drugs) to support clinical staff in delivering care.
  • Having direct contact with blood, body substances, or infectious materials, which must be considered in all tasks.
  • Planning and prioritising daily workload after handover to ensure ward readiness for new admissions.
  • Maintaining ward stock daily to ensure smooth ward operations.
  • Following cleaning, infection control standards, policies, and protocols.
  • Reporting unsafe practices or acts that may endanger occupants or visitors.
  • Supporting a child safe culture that upholds the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations, including mandatory reporting obligations.

You will need:

  • Adaptability to change.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Capability to deliver holistic care, including waitlist and referral management in outpatient clinics.

Details of appointment:

Permanent part-time, day shift position, 40 hours per fortnight, starting from a mutually agreed date. Hours are negotiable.

Salary: $57,130 to $62,486 per annum, pro rata. Employer superannuation contribution of 12% is additional.

  • Salary aligns with the Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
