Location: St John the Evangelist Catholic High School, Nowra

St John the Evangelist Catholic High School, Nowra is a co-educational Catholic high school. Recognised as a centre of excellence in learning and pastoral care, St John's has a strong focus on student growth in learning and building peaceful just relationships. The school draws students from Berry in the north to as far south as Ulladulla. With a student population of approximately 950 students, the school is located just one hour drive south of Wollongong.

A temporary full-time parental leave replacement position commencing 13 October 2025 until 3 July 2026. The successful applicant will be required to teach Religious Education and Music.

The role of Classroom Teacher exists to support growth in faith and improvement in learning for students to reach their full potential.

Responsibilities
  • Teach Religious Education and Music as part of the temporary replacement.
  • Support growth in faith and improve learning for students to reach their full potential.
Essential Selection Criteria
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding and commitment to the mission and purpose of the Catholic School within the broader Catholic Church.
  • Create and maintain an orderly, safe and supportive learning environment based on the principles of PB4L.
  • Apply knowledge of the diverse needs of students to support their full participation in learning.
  • Ability to plan for and implement effective teaching and learning in Religious Education and Music.
  • Use a range of assessment strategies and analyse data to inform student learning.
  • Demonstrate commitment to engage professionally with colleagues, parents /carers and the wider school community.
General Capabilities
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong organisational skills.
Qualifications
  • Appropriate qualifications for teaching nominated Religion and Music.
  • To Work, Teach and Lead policy: Accredited Level D to teach Religious Education in accordance with this policy or a commitment to gain this level within the first 5 years of employment with CEDoW.
  • The applicant must be accredited to teach with NESA.
Working With Children Clearance

This role is classified as child related work and therefore a Working With Children Check (WWCC) is required prior to your employment with CEDoW.
