As the Lecturer, you will be expected to contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School, in disciplines related to your field of expertise. More specifically, you are responsible for carrying out teaching activities within undergraduate, Masters and Graduate Diploma programs and for maintaining and advancing your scholarly, research and/or professional capabilities. You will also be expected to actively promote the program by establishing and maintaining memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities. You will be expected to work collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics within the teaching team, and update colleagues and students on developments in their subject area or specialisation. You may also be responsible for course coordination.
As the Senior Lecturer, you will contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School. You will make a significant contribution to the delivery of programs and to be actively involved in research, consulting and other professional activities. You will develop, engage in and lead high quality research projects, aligned with the University's research focus areas, to achieve success in attracting research funding and to produce high quality outputs. You will have an important research leadership role in embedding your research expertise into the life of the School and will be required to develop high-quality, productivity-driven networks across RMIT and with local, national and global partners. You may have responsibility for program management.
Key Selection CriteriaTo be successful for the Level B appointment, you will meet the following criteria:
- Emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs in micro-nano electronics and developing next-generation brain-inspired sensors and processing systems and related areas, contributing to existing Discipline and School research areas evidenced by publications, development of new research initiatives, competitive research funding, and industry links.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in electronic, embedded systems and computer engineering areas, including online delivery, and ability to produce high quality curriculum or program materials.
- Ability to undertake course coordination.
- Demonstrated capacity to work effectively with and negotiate sensitively with students on issues related to effective learning.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise higher degree by research candidates.
- Ability to build effective networks with colleagues and generate alternative funding projects through liaison with industry and government.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills for interacting with higher degree by research candidates, staff and industry, with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Mandatory Qualifications: PhD in a related field or approved AQF equivalency with relevant industry experience
To be successful for the Level C appointment, you will meet the following criteria:
- Emerging nationally recognised research track record in micro-nano electronics and developing next-generation brain-inspired sensors and processing systems and related areas, including substantial record of research outputs in high quality outlets.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate and teach large courses in electronic, embedded systems and computer engineering areas; and to prepare and deliver programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels with high quality curriculum and program materials, and implement innovative approaches to student-centred learning and quality improvement.
- Ability to manage a large program or multiple programs.
- Demonstrated ability to support student issues related to effective learning.
- Experience in research leadership to build and develop collaborative research teams, mentor staff, attract external funding, and manage funded projects including budgets and reporting.
- Extensive experience supervising higher degree by research candidates.
- Demonstrated ability to manage academic program teams and support scholarly development of less experienced staff.
- Understanding of and commitment to financial, governance and quality management systems within a university.
- High level interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills to consult with senior executives and external bodies and to produce executive reports and aligned outcomes.

The Curriculum spans areas including Electrical, Power, Control and Automation; Analog/Digital, RF and microelectronics; Embedded, Computer and Software; and Communication and Networks. Offshore teaching programs are delivered in Hong Kong and India. The department maintains industry partnerships and promotes student project supervision and work-integrated learning.
