About the Role

As a Senior Back-End Developer at foundU, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and implementing software solutions that drive our business goals forward. Leveraging your expertise, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create innovative solutions that enhance user experiences, streamline processes, and improve overall system performance.

You will lead by example, mentoring and guiding junior developers, while also staying abreast of industry trends and best practices to continually improve our development processes.

In this role, you will:

Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code while adhering to coding standards and best practices.

Collaborate with product owners, designers, and other stakeholders to gather and refine technical requirements.

Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring timely delivery of solutions.

Participate in code reviews to provide constructive feedback and ensure code quality across the team.

Identify opportunities for process improvement and drive the adoption of new technologies and tools.

Mentor and provide guidance to junior developers, fostering their growth and skill development.

Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing initiatives.

Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends and recommend their incorporation when relevant.

Ensure automated test coverage for your tasks.

Monitor the technical performance of foundU's systems.

Collaborate and provide feedback on architecture for new features to the Chief Technology Officer, Head of Engineering and Tech Leads.

Assist the Tech Lead in developing and implementing effective training programs to onboard new team members and ensure ongoing development and growth of existing team members.

Support the Head of Engineering in fulfilling the responsibilities of the Tech Lead during their extended absence, such as during annual leave.

Collaborate with wider foundU team, leveraging foundU's technology stack and making localised improvements.

Drive continuous improvement of team processes and methodologies to ensure consistent delivery of exceptional customer experiences.

Attend and contribute to all agile ceremonies within the foundU agile playbook.

Attend regular team meetings and interactions; providing feedback to leaders, escalating issues according to severity.

Maintain knowledge of the Australian HR, Payroll and Industrial Relations environments.

Ensure Research and Development timesheets are completed and up to date.

Proven track record of designing and delivering successful software projects, showcasing architectural and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in the foundU tech stack:Laravel, PHP, MySQL, RESTful APIs

Strong understanding of software development principles, design patterns, and best practices.

Ability to develop unit testing of code components or complete applications.

Experience with sprint methodologies and a collaborative team-oriented approach.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Knowledge of Australian HR/Payroll is advantageous

Demonstrated leadership capabilities and a desire to mentor and elevate team members.
