Your role

As a Policy and Projects Officer, you'll coordinate and contribute to the development and delivery of a range of projects. This role provides analysis and advice to support our agency's and the NSW Government's policy initiatives and commitments to the primary prevention of domestic, family, and sexual violence (DFSV). You'll be able to work with some of our key stakeholders, with other NSW government partners, peak bodies, non-government service providers and advocacy groups, to implement a range of initiatives that benefit our communities.

What You'll Do

As part of a small team, this role provides core project management support, including preparing and developing project documentation and our monitoring and evaluation of project progress., It has some of its own responsibilities too, undertaking research and analysis, communicating with our key project partners and preparing high level briefs, reports and information for key stakeholders, including Ministerial offices.

The DFSV Primary Prevention team is responsible for coordinating across government, jurisdictions and sectors to drive the implementation of the recently released Pathways to Prevention: NSW Strategy for the Prevention of Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence 2024-2028 . This Strategy represents a major investment by Government to centrally coordinate a program of whole of population-level work to address the gendered drivers of violence that consistently predict its occurrence against women. Initiatives will expand place-based programs of work across high-impact settings where we live, work, play and learn.

Each day sees a variety of tasks, from writing to researching, to procurement compliance to project coordination, all in support of delivering our Strategy's program of work.

It's a newly established small team, and we seek a diversity of backgrounds, experiences, skills and perspectives to contribute to a wide-ranging program of work.

What We're Looking For

Our ideal candidate will best succeed with this experience:

  • You have previously coordinated a range of policy and project development activities and evaluated or measured impact.
  • You're skilled in managing competing demands and priorities.
  • You can demonstrate experience of assimilating information quickly and understanding the implications of changes to policy direction and project priorities.
  • You have experience collaborating and coordinating across organisations.
  • You have an understanding and interest in domestic, family and sexual violence policy issues, although you don't need to be a subject matter expert.

Our team is based mostly in Sydney, but we hire the right skills from anywhere in NSW for people who want to work for NSW. Please talk to us about where you might be able to do this work.
