Overview

Principal Transmission Lines Engineer at AusNet. This hybrid role (Office/Work-from-Home) is based in Southbank, Melbourne, within the Transmission Asset Management team. You will lead the Lines team, provide strategic technical direction to optimise asset performance and long-term network resilience, and mentor a high-performing, collaborative team focused on innovation and impact.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the Lines team within Transmission Asset Management, fostering technical excellence and team development
  • Provide strategic, technical, and economic advice to guide asset decisions and long-term planning
  • Develop and deliver CAPEX/OPEX work plans and asset strategies aligned with corporate goals
  • Champion innovation and out-of-the-box thinking to enhance asset resilience and performance
  • Guide risk management, compliance, and regulatory submissions for transmission lines
  • Oversee condition assessments, scope development, and project initiation to maintain safety and reliability
  • Lead the creation and refinement of asset specifications, maintenance strategies, and business cases
Qualifications
  • Degree qualified in Engineering (Electrical or Structural)
  • Significant demonstrated years of engineering design/asset management experience
  • In-depth knowledge of equipment and technologies, with a focus on transmission lines and emerging trends and innovations
  • Deep understanding of relevant Australian and International standards and industry codes of practice for transmission lines
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing strategic asset management plans, preferably in a regulated environment
  • Knowledge of relevant condition monitoring and assessment techniques for transmission lines
  • Knowledge of transmission line design standards and principles and construction experience
  • Professional body membership: National Engineering Registration
