This full-time Heavy Vehicle Mechanic position offers an exciting opportunity to join our team at Victorian Transport Company, based in Brooklyn, Victoria. As a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, you will be responsible for the servicing, repair, and maintenance of our fleet of heavy commercial vehicles, playing a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our transport services. We have a fleet size of 50+ including Prime Movers, Hammer and SteelBro Sideloaders, Skel and Retractable Trailers and Container Reach Stacker (Hyster and Kalmar).
What you'll be doing
Perform comprehensive repairs, maintenance, and servicing on a diverse fleet of prime movers and trailers
Carry out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance tasks on our fleet
Perform a variety of mechanical work, including engine, transmission, suspension, and brake system repairs
Liaise with the Transport Manager to prioritise and coordinate maintenance schedules
Maintain accurate records of all work completed and parts used
Ensure work is completed to a high standard, meeting all safety and regulatory requirements
Contribute to the continuous improvement of our maintenance processes and procedures
What we're looking for
Formal qualification in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics or a related automotive trade
Minimum 3 years of experience as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, preferably in a commercial transport or logistics environment
Extensive knowledge of heavy vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and suspension
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills to quickly identify and resolve mechanical issues
Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve maintenance goals
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
Basic Computer Skills and Good command in English
Familiarity with maintenance record-keeping and parts inventory management
