Seeking a Senior Social Worker for our North West Social Work Service, to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The Role:

The Department of Health is seeking a dedicated Senior Social Worker to join their team at the Mersey Community Hospital. As a member of the North West Social Work service, the incumbent will, as part of a multidisciplinary team:

  • Provide Senior Social Work leadership and contribute to the development, provision, and evaluation of social work services for consumers of the department and their families and/or the community; in accordance with the Code of Ethics of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and the Code of Conduct of the Tasmanian Health Service.
  • Mentor and supervise Social Work staff practice and student development in accordance with current models, professional standards and the AASW Code of Ethics.
  • Actively pursue patient centred Social Work interventions that aim to minimise the impact of chronic or acute health conditions with a particular focus on Palliative Care and Oncology Clients.

Please note:

  • Rotation across all clinical caseloads of the Social Work service may be required.
  • Participation in a weekend on-call roster is required.

The Team:

Our team proactively engages with the multi-discipline team to ensure best outcomes for our Patients, we practice collaboratively with key stakeholders across our acute and community services, and promote a culture of shared learning and respect for diverse perspectives.

Details of appointment:

Permanent, part time, day worker position (with on-call), working 30.4 hours per fortnight. *notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary:

$106,966 to $123,013 pro rata, per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Public Sector Union Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022.

You'll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $115,573 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum.

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  • Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • Eligible for membership OR a full member with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • Overseas qualified Social Work candidates require a "certification of eligibility" letter from the AASW to confirm their eligibility for membership to the AASW.
  • Or where regulatory requirements exist, NDIS Q&S Commission Provider Registration Requirements.
  • Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration.
