The Senior Director leads the Assurance and Advisory Services function within the Corporate Affairs Division, delivering an independent and objective internal audit program that enhances governance, accountability, and performance across Gold Coast Health

The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Senior Director (Assurance and Advisory Services) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Contribute to strategic planning, reviews, and risk/compliance activities
  • Ensure audits comply with standards, ethics, legislation, and frameworks
  • Maintain independence, reporting to Audit and Risk Committee and Executive Director
  • Lead and review the three-year Strategic and Annual Internal Audit Plans

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Tertiary qualification in accounting, auditing, commerce, business, or a related field
  • Membership (or eligibility for membership) with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants ANZ, or equivalent professional body
  • Demonstrated experience in leading internal audit functions within large, complex organisations, preferably in the public or health sector
  • Detailed knowledge of internal audit standards, ethical codes, risk management frameworks, and relevant legislation including the Financial Accountability Act 2009 (Qld)
  • High-level skills in conducting complex audits, preparing quality audit reports, and presenting to executive and board-level committees
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)
