What we are looking for:

We are currently seeking an experienced Data Engineer based in Sydney, who has:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience building and maintaining data systems, including data architecture, pipelines, and warehouses
• 5+ years of hands-on AWS experience, with expertise in services like S3, Glue, EMR, Redshift
• Experience designing and implementing data architectures, including ETL/ELT processes and data modeling
• Proficiency with tools such as Segment (for CDP), Amplitude (for analytics), and integrating web events from sources like Google Analytics, Firebase, and Clevertap
• Experience with data warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, or similar) and optimising data flows for analytics
• Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases, query optimisation, and schema design
• Experience building scalable data pipelines and ensuring data quality, observability, and monitoring
• Expertise in programming languages such as Python, SQL
• Experience integrating and feeding data into AI/ML systems to provide context and enhance AI-driven features
• Candidates with interest or experience in AI engineering will be highly regarded
• An AI enthusiast who likes to experiment with using data to add context and perform prompt engineering on a ReAct LLM system will be highly regarded

What you'd be doing:

• Gather requirements from product, backend, and mobile teams to design and implement a scalable data architecture from the ground up, ensuring seamless integration and alignment with business needs
• Design and build a robust data warehouse to centralise and manage data assets effectively
• Implement a data catalogue to ensure discoverability, metadata management, and efficient data usage across the organisation
• Establish data governance practices, including data quality standards, security protocols, and compliance measures
• Integrate CDP with Segment and configure analytics setups with Amplitude to enable advanced tracking and insights
• Build analytics practices to support data-driven product decisions by integrating and flowing mobile and web events from sources like Google Analytics, Firebase, and Clevertap
• Prepare and feed data into AI tools to add contextual enrichment, improving the accuracy and functionality of AI-driven features, with an emphasis on experimenting with prompt engineering for a ReAct LLM system
• Develop, maintain, and optimise scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes, including testing, monitoring, and CI/CD deployment, leveraging in-house expertise to ensure observability, performance, and cost-effectiveness

Key responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain high-quality, scalable, and reliable data solutions using AWS, Segment, Amplitude, and related tools
• Build new data features and pipelines while enhancing existing analytics capabilities
• Bring innovative ideas to drive data architecture and analytics forward
• Participate in data reviews and provide feedback to ensure data integrity, security, and performance
• Troubleshoot and debug data issues in a timely manner
• Optimise data flows, storage, and processing for efficiency and cost-effectiveness
• Integrate data feeds into AI systems to support contextual enhancements and AI tool development
