Financial Controller | Property Group | CBD

Base pay range: A$170,000.00/yr - A$180,000.00/yr. This opportunity is with ThompsonCook, recruiting for a private property group in the CBD.

The Opportunity

An exceptional opportunity to step up into a Financial Controller role within a prominent, private property group. The client has an active and future project pipeline with significant assets under management. The business is known for its values‑led culture. This role is ideal for a technically strong Finance Manager with a solid foundation in property development and broader business services, including financial reporting, compliance, and commercial advisory. Direct exposure to an experienced CFO and entrepreneurial stakeholders offers growth, added value, and meaningful impact in a high‑growth environment.

The Challenge

Reporting to the CFO, key responsibilities include:

  • Lead, mentor and develop the finance team, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Deliver accurate and timely statutory and management reporting, ensuring compliance and providing insights for decision making.
  • Oversee all direct and indirect tax obligations, ensuring compliance and minimising risk, including Division 7A requirements.
  • Manage cash flow, project and management reporting to support the business and joint venture partners.
  • Drive process improvements and system enhancements to strengthen efficiency and reporting capability.
  • Provide technical guidance on accounting and structuring matters, while supporting the CFO and directors with analysis and projects that influence business direction.
The Expertise

Please consider expressing interest if you possess the following:

  • CA/CPA qualified with 10+ years' experience.
  • Trained within a professional services environment with strong exposure to private client portfolios and solid experience across tax compliance, structuring, and advisory.
  • Background in development projects, property or infrastructure highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to develop and mentor a team.
  • Excellent technical knowledge, combined with strong commercial acumen.
  • Systems‑savvy, with ERP experience.
