The APVMA's Innovation section is seeking applications for Director Innovation to provide strategic oversight for the APVMA project office, as well as leading the continuous improvement function of the agency.

Located in either Canberra ACT or regional Armidale NSW, you will gain experience in the Australian Public Service, have access to a variety of flexible working arrangements, and lead the APVMA's enhancement program.

This role is a three-year non-ongoing appointment, with a merit pool being created for potential ongoing vacancies.

The Director Innovation will lead a small team, including project managers, seconded subject matter experts, and business analysts, to identify and propose innovative solutions to system-wide and process issues to ensure the APVMA meets its strategic priorities and legislative compliance requirements.

They will be responsible for leading change management initiatives and assisting with the resolution of identified problems affecting the progress of major projects. As well as providing high level strategic support to the Chief Operating Officer on a range of issues.

To be a strong contender for the role, you will have:

• Expertise in documenting business processes for continuous improvement
• Demonstrated ability to effectively engage and influence diverse stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, lead change, and manage projects
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to negotiate
• Demonstrated ability to manage and lead team performance
• Lead by example, displaying appropriate professional and inclusive behaviour in the workplace
• Demonstrated experience delivering innovation and/or business improvement related functions within an APS environment (Desirable)
