Applications are now open for the Neurosurgery Unaccredited Registrar position at The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH). The role is available from November 2025 until August 2026. It is a full-time position running through to August 2026.

About the Hospital

The RCH, founded in 1870, has cared for children and young people in Victoria for over 150 years. It offers a full range of paediatric and adolescent health services, including tertiary and quaternary care for critically ill and medically complex patients across Victoria, Tasmania, southern NSW, and beyond. The hospital has more than 6,000 staff, a budget of $850M, 12 wards, and 350 beds, with over 300,000 specialist clinic appointments, 90,000 emergency presentations, and 20,000 elective surgeries annually.

Role Responsibilities

The Neurosurgery registrar will develop diagnostic and operative skills in paediatric neurosurgery by caring for neurosurgical patients and their families in wards, outpatient settings, and operating theatres. The role includes educational responsibilities for medical and paramedical staff and participation in clinical research.

Requirements
  • Must undergo a police and working with children check.
  • Must be vaccinated against Influenza annually for Category A and B roles, unless medically exempt, with proof provided.
  • Must comply with hospital directives regarding vaccination against or immunity to other diseases, unless exempt.
