Overview

Spatial & Open Data Analyst role at Ausgrid.

Responsibilities
  • Drive spatial systems, automate data workflows & deliver standardised spatial products that support business, regulatory & public transparency needs.
  • Develop and maintain interactive mapping and spatial solutions; collaborate with external stakeholders to enable open data accessibility and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide spatial expertise across initiatives, conduct spatial analysis, extract insights, and produce reports, presentations, and visualisations to inform operational, strategic and regulatory decisions.
  • Create repeatable and standardised spatial and non-spatial data products to enable self-serve capabilities within enterprise data platforms.
  • Act as a technical leader in spatial analytics and contribute to managing the Geospatial Data Domain.
What you bring to the role
  • Tertiary qualification in GIS, Spatial Science, or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Hands-on experience in utilities or infrastructure sectors; understanding of network operations, asset management systems and relevant standards.
  • Proficiency with spatial platforms (e.g., Smallworld GIS, QGIS), Databricks and FME; knowledge of electrical networks or utility systems.
  • Strong data analysis, written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain complex information to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience evaluating and improving systems and processes; proficient with Microsoft productivity tools; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • Desirable: team leadership and development, presentation skills for spatial insights, mapping expertise for external geospatial datasets, SQL or related programming for data extraction and automation, familiarity with SAP enterprise asset management.
