Senior Accountant

We are a well-established boutique Chartered Accounting practice based in West Perth, looking for an ambitious and driven Senior Accountant to join our fast-growing team. For the right candidate, this role offers a clear pathway to Assistant Manager within a short timeframe for the right candidate.

As a Senior Accountant, you'll play a key role in our business services team, engaging directly with clients and handling more complex and rewarding work. This is more than just a compliance role—you'll be encouraged to broaden your commercial knowledge and take on increasing responsibility with clients who rely on us as being their trusted advisor.

For the right person, there is an exciting opportunity to step into an Assistant Manager role in the short to medium term based on performance and leadership capabilities.

• Preparation and review of financial statements and income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, companies, trusts and NFPs
• Review of bookkeeping and reconciliations
• Preparation and review of BAS, IAS and FBT returns
• Provide corporate secretarial support and instruction
• Conduct interim tax planning and advisory
• Liaise with clients regarding tax queries, business structuring, and compliance obligations
• Maintain strong, proactive relationships with clients and third parties
• Support and guide junior team members
• Assist with client onboarding and process improvements
• Help to manage client relationships where required
• Manage a portfolio of approximately 20-25 clients across various industries and structures

• Minimum 3 years' experience in public practice (business services/tax)
• Strong technical skills in accounting and tax compliance. It's a bonus if you have genuine advisory skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• A proactive and solutions-focused mindset
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency in Xero and MS Office
• Experience with XPM, NowInfinity and Practice Ignition is highly regarded
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or relevant discipline
• CA/CPA qualified or working towards either
• Strong knowledge of Australian tax legislation, particularly regarding Div7A, CGT, and trust taxation
• Must have permanent right to work in Australia
