The Role
  • You will be the Senior Cloud Engineer as a part of a team of 4 within the cloud team and part of a wider team of 50 in IT; and
  • The role itself will be working across multiple cloud projects and being the escalation point for the junior engineers within the team.
Key Responsibilities

Microsoft 365 Support, Cloud & Security
  • Provide advanced support for the Microsoft 365 platform including Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, OneDrive for Business, and Office 365;
  • Deploy, maintain, and optimise Azure Cloud resources, including virtual machines (VMs), storage accounts, key vaults, network security groups (NSGs), app services, and Azure SQL databases;
  • Utilise Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Azure Resource Manager (ARM), and Bicep for efficient resource management and deployment;
  • Administer Autopilot, Intune, and Microsoft Configuration Manager; and
  • Prioritise the implementation, remediation, and maintenance, and continually review, the highest levels of security standards, process and practice across all disciplines within the remit of the role.
Identity and Access Management & Backup Administration
  • Manage and maintain Active Directory (AD), Entra ID (AAD), group policies, and Azure AD Connect;
  • Oversee the administration of core Azure AD (Entra) identity management, including users, traditional groups (security and distribution), Office 365 groups (dynamic groups), guest users, app registrations, and enterprise applications;
  • Implement, manage and continually improve Azure Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA);
  • Implement and manage backup solutions using Azure Backups, AvePoint, and Veeam;
  • Administer Windows Server environments, including DNS and DHCP;
  • Manage and support Hyper-V;
  • Ensure robust network infrastructure, including Azure firewall management, and general routing, switching, and VPNs;
  • Plan and manage infrastructure requirements to meet future demand;
  • Proactively share knowledge and expertise as the Subject Matter Expert and provide coaching and mentoring to elevate fellow engineers;
  • Collaborate with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to deliver positive project outcomes; and
  • Understand and adhere to relevant compliance obligations.
Governance
  • Maintain a high level of technical documentation for areas of responsibility;
  • Lead and/or assist in the preparation of Disaster Recovery plans and testing for technologies within the remit of the role and those within the team; and
  • Ensure value is driven from technology platforms and opportunities for cost optimisation are identified, reported, and executed
