Description

Based in Sydney, Melbourne or Singapore, you will join a team working to expand Aurora's electricity grid modelling capability across the Asia-Pacific region. You will lead a team to deploy Aurora's models in new markets, quantitatively analysing energy markets and transmission systems, and conveying insights to enhance clients' decision making. You will play an active role in all aspects of client engagement: helping identify issues, forming hypotheses, conducting analysis, and synthesising conclusions into recommendations.

The position suits a candidate with 4+ years of experience, preferably in a technical role within the power sector, and with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline, such as Physics).

Key Responsibilities

• Lead research reports and conduct modelling of high-voltage transmission systems across the APAC region, to enable better analysis of the energy transition
• Engage with clients across consulting engagements, performing power-flow analysis, developing timely and rigorous quantitative reports to enhance clients' decision making
• Work closely with our modelling team, quantifying electrical engineering challenges and deriving insights from model results
• Contribute to our product development, by identifying new opportunities and expanding our capabilities
• Communicate findings to clients
• You will report to the APAC Head of Research and work within Aurora's larger Research team. This is a managerial position, with multiple analysts reporting to you.

What we are looking for

Required attributes:

• At least 4 years of experience, ideally in a technical role within the power sector
• First-class or high second-class degree from a top university in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline, such as Physics)
• Demonstrated success in taking responsibility for project and process management in team-oriented environments
• Proven ability to collect, analyse and interpret complex quantitative data and information
• Ability to communicate clearly and co-operate effectively with both technical and non-technical minded people
• Self-starting, entrepreneurial mind-set, and desire to grow the business

Desirable attributes:

• Previous experience of network/grid modelling, for example, with a transmission company, renewables developer, etc.
• Competence in advanced data analytics (e.g. Python, R, Matlab, Advanced Excel, GAMS)
• Leadership, project management or mentoring experience demonstrated by previous roles of professional responsibility or extracurricular activities
• Experience with power-flow modelling and interpreting single-line-diagrams (SLDs)
• Proficiency in languages other than English, especially Korean, Japanese, or other Asian languages
