The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Principal Primary Engineer – Electrical to lead the design and development of primary electrical systems for high-voltage substations and transmission projects. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our designs meet technical specifications, comply with industry standards, and support the successful delivery of projects from concept through to commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of primary electrical systems for high-voltage substations, including layout planning, equipment selection, and integration of systems up to 500kV.
• Prepare detailed design documentation, including single-line diagrams, general arrangement drawings, and equipment specifications.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant national and international standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE) and client-specific requirements.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, structural, and protection engineers, to ensure cohesive design integration.
• Conduct technical reviews and feasibility studies to support project planning and execution.
• Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers, fostering knowledge sharing and professional development within the team.

Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years' experience in primary electrical design for high-voltage substations and transmission systems.
• Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD, ETAP, and PLS-CADD.
• Strong understanding of high-voltage electrical equipment and system configurations.
• Experience in preparing technical specifications and conducting design reviews.
• Familiarity with Australian grid codes and regulatory requirements.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
• Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools and methodologies.
• Knowledge of renewable energy integration into transmission systems.
• Exposure to international projects and standards.
