Overview

Maintenance Electrician Further Processing – Australian Country Choice, Brisbane, Queensland.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Shift Maintenance Electrician to join our dynamic maintenance team in Cannon Hill, Brisbane, within 7km from the CBD. This is a crucial hands-on role responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our advanced food processing and packaging machinery. Working closely with fitters, production, and QA teams, you will apply your exceptional fault-finding abilities to minimize downtime and contribute directly to our operational success.

Responsibilities
  • Safety & Compliance: Strictly adhere to all company safety policies, including LOTO procedures, WHS/OHS regulations; conduct thorough safety inspections of electrical systems and equipment; ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, and other relevant food safety and quality standards; champion electrical safety standards and best practices.
  • Fault Finding & Diagnostics: Promptly diagnose and rectify complex electrical and control system faults on a diverse range of industrial machinery; diagnose PLCs, VSDs, pneumatic and hydraulic control systems, servo drives/motors.
  • Preventive & Corrective Maintenance: Execute scheduled preventive maintenance tasks and perform efficient corrective maintenance to reduce downtime.
  • Installations & Upgrades: Assist in installation, commissioning, and modification of new machinery and electrical systems, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Complete work orders, maintain maintenance records within the CMMS (MEX); communicate work status to maintenance supervisor; submit parts requisitions; provide clear handovers to incoming shifts.
  • General & Teamwork: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment; work with a multi-skilled maintenance team; participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Electrical Licence: Current Australian Electrical Licence (e.g., Electrical Mechanic / Fitter Licence in Queensland).
  • Working at heights and confined spaces.
  • Industrial Experience: Proven medium-level experience as a Maintenance Electrician in FMCG manufacturing (experience in meat processing or food production desirable).
  • Production environment: Ability to work in a cold room (3°C to 10°C).
  • Physical: Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, lift within safe limits, and work around machinery.
Desirable Skills
  • Technical Proficiency: PLC fault-finding and basic programming, VSDs and motor control, pneumatic/hydraulic systems, servo drives/motors.
  • Fault-Finding Excellence: Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Forklift Licence.
  • CMMS Experience: Proficient with CMMS (MEX, SAP, Maximo).
  • IT Literacy: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Team Player and Communication: Collaborative mindset and strong written/verbal communication for documentation.
