Role Purpose

The Infrastructure Engineer plays a key role in ensuring Capricorn's IT systems and services perform optimally across on-premises and cloud environments. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure solutions that support business-critical operations. The position also drives automation initiatives and collaborates across teams to continuously improve infrastructure performance and reliability.

Capabilities RequiredTechnical Skills:
  1. Advanced understanding of hybrid environments (Active Directory, Azure AD) and on-prem/cloud infrastructure management.
  2. Strong experience with automation and Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g. Terraform, Ansible) to drive continuous improvement.
  3. Solid knowledge of system performance monitoring, incident management, and disaster recovery planning.
  4. Familiarity with networking fundamentals, storage solutions, and security best practices.
Experience:
  1. Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in infrastructure engineering or IT systems support roles, with a proven track record of managing hybrid environments and cloud migrations.
  2. Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, and optimising infrastructure solutions, supported by incident and outage management experience.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  2. Advanced certifications in Microsoft Azure.
  3. Demonstrated expertise in scripting, with PowerShell preferred.
  4. Networking certifications favourable (Cisco preferred).
  5. ITIL certification, demonstrating proficiency in IT service management best practices.
