Job Opportunity: Public Policy Specialist

The Property Council of Australia, representing the nation's largest industry employing over 1.4 million Australians, is seeking a dedicated Public Policy Specialist to join our team. Our members include a diverse range of companies involved in property investment, management, and development, along with professional service providers.

Position Purpose

Manage the coordination and delivery of the SA Division's policy, advocacy, government relations, and corporate communications activities, aligning with the Property Council's priorities and member services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of public affairs and corporate communications strategies.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with media outlets.
  • Manage policy and advocacy initiatives in collaboration with members for the SA Division.
  • Coordinate with the Property Council's national office and other divisions on shared activities.
  • Prepare submissions to government at various levels.
  • Provide strategic advice on the division's activities and budgets.
  • Support the Executive Director with executive support for the Division Management Committee and Council.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Strong understanding of political and policy development processes.
  • Experience in policy development and management across sectors.
  • Media relations and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage timelines effectively.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
  • Strategic problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across teams and develop strategic networks.
  • Leadership experience in small team environments.
  • Relevant tertiary education in planning, politics, public affairs, or law.
