Role Summary

The Navy Synthetic Warfighting Centre (NSWC) facilitates warfare training and command and control training for the Royal Australian Navy, as well as Joint and Combined forces. Operating at Naval Base HMAS Watson, in Watsons Bay NSW, it provides a range of systems and facilities that support live, virtual and constructive (LVC) simulation-enabled training at the individual, unit and force level.

This position is only available to Australian citizens. Permanent Residents and working visa holders will not be considered, as the incumbent must hold a current Australian Defence Security Clearance at minimum NV1 level, with ability to upgrade to NV2.

Responsibilities
  • This position will provide realistic and real-world command chain actions and reactions of the synthetic events, to assist with training of customer personnel to achieve maritime warfare training outcomes. The incumbent is expected to act as a role player and professional interactor with generalist skills.
  • Provide tactically accurate blue-force and/or red-force interactor functions and demonstrate proficiency in: ADF tactics, doctrine and procedures; Anti-submarine warfare (ASW); Anti-air warfare (AAW); Anti-surface (ASuW) warfare; Electronic Warfare (EW); Air Space management; Naval Gunfire Support and joint fire missions; Execute and coordinate synthetic training events; Provide input to exercise pre- and post-event documentation.
  • Maintain minimum NV1 security clearance (with ability to upgrade to NV2).
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide realistic and real-world command-chain actions and reactions for synthetic events.
  • Assist in the training of Customer personnel to achieve maritime warfare training outcomes.
  • Coordinate and execute synthetic training events.
  • Contribute to exercise related pre- and post-event documentation.

Skills/Experience/KnowledgeEssential:
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • Assist in the delivery of structured training programmes.
  • Display personal and professional skills and the ability to build sound stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight timeframes.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Be eligible to access ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) information.
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of current ADF Simulation doctrine, tactics and procedures.
  • Experience working in a military training environment.
  • Comprehension and use of military/RAN voice procedures.
  • Combat System Operator experience or equivalent.
  • RAAF experience as Air Warfare specialist.
  • Understanding of the application and conduct of training systems, exercise development, military communications and C2 systems.
