Your new role as a workshop Plant Mechanic will report to the Workshop Supervisor in a permanent full-time residential position based in Kalgoorlie.

The Plant Mechanic is responsible for carrying out scheduled maintenance, servicing, and repairs, including diagnosing all Caterpillar machines.

This WesTrac branch is located in Kalgoorlie, WA, and is an authorised Caterpillar dealership offering a wide range of Cat products, parts, services, and technologies. Our Kalgoorlie team provides Cat machinery solutions for earthmoving businesses, including new and used equipment sales, heavy equipment rental, parts, servicing, and merchandise.

Location: Kalgoorlie – must be residential or willing to relocate with own housing

Roster: 8 days on, 6 off – 10.5 hrs each day (including 30-minute meal break)

What You'll Do:

  • Perform scheduled and daily maintenance, servicing, and inspections of mobile mining earthmoving and ancillary plant equipment.
  • Maintain accurate lubricant records and machine hours for each equipment.
  • Support our tradespersons through the maintenance process safely and efficiently.
  • Report faults/defects and complete service reports using CAT Inspect.
  • Operate forklifts.

Skills & Experience:

  • Australian Drivers Licence – Light Rigid OR Medium Rigid.
  • Australian recognised Heavy Mobile Plant Technology trade certificate with post-trade experience.
  • High Risk Work Licence – Forklift (FL), Dogging (DG), Rigging (RG), Working at Heights (WAH), Confined Spaces (CSE).
  • Strong computer literacy with good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in maintenance servicing of heavy equipment (mobile plant / ancillary).
  • Excellent customer service and safety focus.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team.
