About the role

The Home Support Worker (Domestic cleaning) role does not require a Cert III qualification; however, a Cert II in cleaning would be advantageous. This role supports clients in community home care programs, helping them to live independently in their homes. Responsibilities include domestic cleaning and unaccompanied shopping services for clients assessed as requiring low to high levels of care, in line with individual care plans.

  • Assist clients with household cleaning tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, mopping, linen change, laundry, bathroom cleaning, etc.
  • Unaccompanied shopping and errands
  • Transport and community access as required
  • Engage and communicate with clients and their families or other stakeholders as needed
  • Monitor and report any changes or concerns in clients' physical, emotional, or behavioural health
  • Manage communication channels effectively and escalate significant events appropriately

About you

  • Knowledge of aging and experience caring for elders in the community
  • Ability to travel and adapt to client and organizational needs
  • Attention to detail and high standards of service and documentation
  • Ability to work independently and accept guidance when necessary
  • Flexible, caring, patient, and professional attitude
  • Computer literacy, including using smart devices for care notes, rostering, and organizational processes
  • Ability to speak a language other than English is advantageous

Qualifications

  • Willingness to undergo a police check
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificates
  • Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
  • Valid driver's license, insured and roadworthy vehicle
  • Evidence of current influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations
  • Smartphone and access to a computer or device
  • Cert II in Cleaning (advantageous)
