As a member of the Catering team at Gertrude Abbott Surry Hills, you will be preparing meals for our residents and managing an established team of catering assistants. This role includes overseeing the effective meal service to our aged care residents, as well as providing best practice service in kitchen cleanliness, documentation and food preparation.

Responsibilities
  • Preparing fresh and nutritious meals for residents in line with dietary needs
  • Managing all resources within the kitchen including equipment and food supplies within your approved budget
  • Maintaining a hygienically clean kitchen that is fully compliant with the Aged Care quality standards
Qualifications
  • A kind heart and genuine passion for providing high quality care to the elderly
  • Comfortable interacting with a wide variety of people
  • Good communication skills
  • A reliable team player
  • Certificate III in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery)
  • Basic Food safety Practices Certificate
  • Good understanding of food safety practices, kitchen cleanliness and hygiene
  • Understanding of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) preferred
  • Ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision
  • Able to establish and maintain professional and appropriate relationships with residents and their families
  • NDIS and Police check clearance or willingness to obtain
