Job description – Nurseryperson

Plant Cultivation and Maintenance

• Propagate, plant, and transplant seedlings and mature plants.
• Maintain the health of plants using appropriate techniques.
• Water, fertilise, and manage pest control for all plant stock.

Nursery Operations

• Monitor and manage growing environments, including temperature, humidity, and light.
• Operate and maintain irrigation systems.
• Prepare plants for sale or distribution by packaging and labelling appropriately.

Inventory and Stock Management

• Maintain accurate records of plant stock, growth cycles, and health issues.
• Inspect incoming stock and materials for quality assurance.

Health and Safety

• Ensure compliance with safety standards in the nursery.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and machinery in a safe and operational condition.

Customer Service and Engagement

• Provide advice to customers on plant care and maintenance.
• Assist in responding to customer inquiries or resolving concerns about nursery products.

Requirements

• AQF Certificate III, including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3).
• At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.
