Sydney Hospital and Sydney Eye Hospital are heritage institutions with a history of nursing and medical firsts, offering a mix of general and specialist services including 24-hour emergency care. The hospital is in the heart of the Sydney CBD (near Martin Place and St James Station).

What you'll be doing

The NSW South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) aims for exceptional care and healthier lives. The CNC will play a pivotal role in SSEH General Medicine, contributing to clinical service, leadership, research, education and planning. The role includes leadership in clinical advice for patients, nursing staff and other health professionals, and participation in multidisciplinary mortality and morbidity or patient case review meetings.

The CNC coordinates Clinical Emergency Response Systems (CERS) management, including data collection, interpretation and reporting at local and District levels; education and training related to CERS, Sepsis Pathway, Delirium, End of Life, and Advance Care Directives.

You will work with an extended level of clinical knowledge to ensure best practice and participate in patient safety initiatives and evidence-based practice in a person-centred framework.

Selection Criteria
  • Registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse, NSW Driver's License, and willingness to travel as required.
  • At least 5 years full-time equivalent post-registration experience, with at least 3 years in the specialty field; postgraduate qualifications relevant to the field or other suitable qualifications/experience as determined by the hospital or health organisation.
  • Ability to apply clinical expertise in a consultant role and work independently.
  • Proven clinical leadership and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team; commitment to nursing excellence.
  • Evidence of critical thinking in delivering advanced evidence-based nursing care.
  • Experience in leading and implementing change and translating evidence into practice within a person-centred framework.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, advanced computer skills for data analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to contribute to strategic and clinical service planning.
