Southern Cross Care Queensland has an exciting opportunity for a casual Cook/Catering Assistant to join our SCCQ family in our Tarcoola Residential Aged Care Home in Tara, Western Downs region of Queensland.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation of meals and ensure the kitchen and equipment are maintained in a safe, hygienic and tidy manner.
  • Enhance the dining experience by sharing culinary skills and supporting our values to meet our mission of supporting residents' health, wellbeing and lifestyle.
  • Plating and serving meals; ensure on-time delivery of quality meals.
  • Basic record keeping (e.g., number of meals per day, missed meals) in consultation with the Chief Cook.
  • Clean dishes, kitchen workspace, equipment, utensils and fixtures; keep the kitchen and equipment safe and hygienic.
  • General cleaning duties around the home.
What will you bring to the role?
  • Experience in an aged care or hospital commercial kitchen (desired).
  • Previous hotel services experience (desired).
  • Compassion, sensitivity and maturity to provide high-quality meals.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Flexible with start times and days (including weekends).
  • Good knowledge of food safety (preferable HACCP).
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage time effectively.
