We're looking for a commercially savvy Legal Counsel to join our team and take ownership of all things legal and risk.This is a rare opportunity to step into a role that blends hands-on legal expertise with strategic impact, supporting our operations across APAC, the UK, and the USA.

What you'll be doing

As our in-house Legal Counsel, you'll:

  • Be the go-to advisor on all legal matters across the business.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate client and supplier contracts — including MSAs with major corporates.
  • Overhaul and streamline TMX's contracting frameworks to support growth and reduce risk.
  • Advise on corporate governance, shareholder matters, M&A, restructures, and compliance.
  • Support the People & Culture team on employment law and workplace matters.
  • Manage and coordinate external counsel across jurisdictions where specialist input is required.
  • Build a strong legal risk and compliance framework across privacy, IP, property, construction, and more.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and current Australian practising certificate.
  • 7+ years PQE across corporate, commercial, and employment law (in-house or firm).
  • Strong experience in contract negotiation, shareholder matters, governance, and disputes.
  • Proven ability to balance legal risk with commercial outcomes.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Integrity, resilience, and confidence to work closely with executives and the board.
