Responsibilities
  • As a Solution Architect you will play a key role in the technical leadership of Hexagon's solution's delivery. You will work with internal stakeholders and customers to provide solution design, delivery documentation and technical guidance on the delivery and implementation of Hexagon's solutions to customers.
  • In this role, you will successfully collaborate and communicate with various business and technical stakeholders, drawing upon your broad experience and knowledge, to clearly understand customer needs and ensure that Hexagon's solution design aligns with business and architectural objectives aligned to best practices in IT and software engineering. This role will require a national police clearance.
  • Develop a broad understanding of all Hexagon products, services, and markets, stay abreast of all new releases and products; act as Hexagon SME.
  • Develop end-to-end solution architecture for customer solutions based on Hexagon's solutions.
  • Play a leading role in the design, specification, and selection of high-quality information system solutions for Hexagon customers while considering the impacts to functionality, data security, integration, infrastructure, business requirements, and performance.
  • Deliver solution architecture conceptual designs using standardised frameworks as defined by Hexagon.
  • Analyse and capture customer and business requirements, document conceptual and logical solution components.
  • Review project documentation as required to ensure that it meets technical standards; identify business/process issues from potential customers and translate them into Hexagon solutions.
  • Prepare and deliver concise customer presentations and demonstrations of the software/solution, articulately and confidently.
  • Analyse the industry and market trends and determine new and potential business capabilities.
  • Review, analyse, evaluate ideas, projects, and opportunities to identify new solutions for projects and software.
  • Evaluate and present information that will facilitate effective and timely decision-making by summarising findings and making appropriate recommendations.
  • Provide high-level effort estimations in support of customer bids and opportunities.
  • From time to time, provide presales support to other parts of the business; share/transfer knowledge and skills with other Hexagon teams in support of continuous improvement.
  • Actively contribute towards ongoing improvements of Architecture and Technology practices and processes at Hexagon; participate in solution peer reviews.
  • Provide strategic advice to the customer and internal & external stakeholders for subsequent stages of the project, and when required act as Technical Leader in projects.
  • Collaborate with the development team as required to understand capabilities, processes, and solution design; participate in coding or business workflow mapping as required.
  • Resolve technical issues across the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and support the implementation and upholding of architectural governance across the SDLC and project management frameworks.
  • Leverage knowledge of common solutions and services to ensure that all solutions developed across the business are aligned to Hexagon's high-quality standards and principles; flag and escalate risks and issues as appropriate.
  • Ensure that all architecture references including principles, policies, standards, roadmaps, frameworks, patterns, and methodologies are maintained throughout the presales process.
Education / Qualifications
  • Tertiary Level education in IT, Computer Science or a similar relative field.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture methodologies such as TOGAF or the equivalent.
  • Solid understanding of Service Oriented Architecture and other interface architectures.
  • Proven professional experience in presales role (experience providing software demonstrations, and responses to RFIs and RFPs).
  • Proven track record in software or business architecture.
  • Understanding of business architecture and how it is supported by technology.
  • Demonstrated understanding of systems development, project management, and of requirements, design, and testing techniques.
  • Experience modelling requirements and/or business processes using a variety of tools and techniques.
  • Experience in selling, architecting, and delivering cloud solutions.
  • Experience with waterfall and agile methodologies (knowledge of Scaled Agile Framework is desirable).
  • Experience with implementing complex enterprise projects in a mission-critical/high-availability environment is highly desirable.
  • Experience with (or understanding of) Computer Aided Dispatch ( CAD ) / Mobile Computing (or any other Hexagon Safety & Infrastructure product or solution) is advantageous.

  • Ability to demonstrate complex technical solutions to customers.
  • Technical skills spanning .NET, databases, SOA, cloud computing and web frameworks.
  • Experience hosting enterprise solutions on cloud platforms; Azure preferred.
  • Working knowledge of infrastructure including servers, storage, firewalls, load balancers, and routers.
  • Technical knowledge in programming using current market computing technologies.
  • Ability to liaise with third-party vendors, consultants, product centers in US, and across American, European and Asia Pacific technical personnel.
