About this exciting opportunity
As a Network Engineer in our team, you will contribute to the design, implementation and maintenance of a secure and efficient network infrastructure for our world leading marine research facility and ensure seamless operation through your expertise in network architecture, security and optimisation. You will help ensure that AIMS continues to operate a robust and reliable network environment across logical and physical data and voice networks (LAN, WAN & SAN) and associated infrastructure. Key responsibilities will include:
- Performing troubleshooting and diagnostics to identify and resolve incidents within the technical environment, monitoring network performance and availability.
- Carrying out configuration and maintenance of network level services (routing tables, remote access and authentication), and monitoring and maintaining network security measures (firewalls, intrusion detection systems, VPNs) to protect network infrastructure.
- Managing the Security Information and Event management (SIEM) systems and logs to monitor and analyse network logs and security events, and detect, respond and mitigate any potential security threats.
- Implementing technical solutions and support the organisation's technological initiatives and documenting system configurations, processes and procedures.
- Managing AIMS' mobile device fleet and vessel network infrastructure, including 4G/5G router and satellite services.
About you
Our ideal candidate will have a degree in Information Technology, with extensive professional experience supporting IT systems and strong technical expertise in cybersecurity. You will draw on your experience with network monitoring tools and technologies to address network performance and security issues, and have a solid understanding of networking concepts, protocols and technologies, including relevant cybersecurity risks, controls and strategies. You'll have used SIEM tools and concepts for monitoring and analysing security event, capable of identifying and responding to security incidents and vulnerabilities.
You will be familiar in mobile device management (MDM) solutions for remote device management, application deployment and security configurations for mobile devices to support our fleet. Your strong attention to detail and outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills will be matched by your excellent written and verbal communication skills, well-honed from experience writing policies and procedures and other support documentation.

- AIMS AOF Level 4 salary ($97,503 to $110,957 per annum) plus 15.4% superannuation
