As the retail arm of The Salvation Army, we raise funds to support life-changing programs for those in need. We operate over 400 stores across Australia (including online), offering sustainable shopping through recycling pre-loved items.

Volunteer Retail Assistant Role

Join our diverse and collaborative team in the role of Volunteer Retail Assistant. You'll support our store operations, work alongside dedicated managers, staff, and volunteers, gain valuable skills, make new friends, and contribute to your community.

Whether sorting donations, assisting with online orders, or engaging with customers, your efforts will help raise funds for essential services to those in need.

Please note: This volunteer role is unpaid.

About You

Responsibilities
  • Greet Customers: Welcome customers warmly to create a positive shopping experience.
  • Assist with Inquiries: Provide helpful information and guidance to customers.
  • Support Donor Care Program: Receive donated goods, handle them properly, and communicate with donors.
  • Process Donated Goods: Assess items for quality and price them appropriately for sale.
  • Stock and Display: Organize and display items neatly, assisting with visual merchandising.
  • Maintain Cleanliness: Keep the store tidy and safe.
  • Waste Management: Follow sustainable waste practices.
  • Ensure Safety: Maintain a safe environment for all.
  • Health and Safety: Prioritize health and safety for yourself and others.

Important: Volunteers must be 15 years or older. The Salvation Army is an inclusive employer, valuing diversity and encouraging applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. All child-related roles require a Working with Children Check, and some roles may require a Criminal History Check.
