Somerville is a for-purpose, community-based organisation that has supported Territorians for over 50 years. We specialise in high-quality disability services that empower people to live the life they choose. As a registered NDIS provider, we deliver individualised support across the Northern Territory, with a focus on respectful, person-centred relationships that promote choice, dignity, and independence.
About the role
We are seeking a motivated, collaborative, and person-centred individual to join our team as a Support Coordinator on a 12-month contract to cover parental leave.
This vital role helps NDIS participants understand, implement, and manage their NDIS plans. You'll empower participants to exercise choice and control, connect with the right services, and build the skills and confidence to manage their supports independently over time.
While the role is based in Alice Springs, we're open to considering candidates who wish to work remotely from other NT locations, provided they're able to travel regularly to Alice Springs.
This is a diverse and rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in people's lives while working within a supportive, values-driven organisation.
What you'll be doing
As a Support Coordinator, you will:
- Provide individualised support to help participants understand and action their NDIS plans
- Collaborate with participants, families, and providers to develop person-centred plans and solutions
- Identify innovative services and community supports aligned with participant needs
- Facilitate referrals, service agreements, and ensure smooth coordination of services
- Support participants to exercise choice and control, make informed decisions, and achieve their goals
- Monitor service delivery, manage risks, and resolve barriers impacting participants' progress
- Prepare for NDIS plan reviews, including compiling reports and supporting documentation
- Maintain accurate records and uphold high standards of confidentiality and compliance
What you'll bring
You'll bring strong relationship-building skills, problem-solving ability, and a genuine passion for empowering people with disability.
We're looking for someone with:
- Experience working in disability, community services, social work, or similar human services fields
- Knowledge of the NDIS, or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge
- Strong understanding of choice and control principles and participants' rights
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to problem-solve, negotiate solutions, and manage competing priorities
- High standards of confidentiality and professional integrity
- Proficiency in digital tools and record-keeping systems
You will also need to hold (or have the ability to obtain):
- National Criminal History Check
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
- First Aid and CPR certificate
- NT Driver Licence
Please refer to the fullposition description for a complete list of essential and desirable criteria.
Why work with us
At Somerville, you'll be part of a values-led team where your skills contribute to meaningful outcomes for people with disability. We offer a supportive, collaborative environment where your impact is recognised and your professional growth is encouraged.
You'll also enjoy:
- NFP salary packaging to boost your take-home pay, with higher tax-free limits through remote area benefits in Alice Springs
- Five weeks of annual leave
- Paid parental leave
- Regular supervision and support
- Access to ongoing training and professional development
- Free, confidential Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
- Flexibility to work remotely from other NT locations, with regular travel to Alice Springs required
How to apply
To apply, please submit your resume and a cover letter outlining your experience, skills, and what makes you a great fit for this role.
If you have any questions about the role, please contact us at recruitment@somerville.org.au or on 08 8920 4100.
Somerville is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful workplace. We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and communities.
Applications will be reviewed and shortlisted as they are received, so early applications are encouraged.
