This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 4, 2025

The School

Harrisdale Senior High School (SHS) is one of the largest schools in Western Australia, attracting students from diverse geographic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. With a student population of over 2300, approximately 180 teaching staff, and 70 support staff, the school offers an inclusive and comprehensive education for Years 7 to 12. The Role

Harrisdale SHS is seeking a passionate and versatile Drama teacher to join our dynamic and high-performing Arts team. This is an excellent opportunity for an energetic educator to inspire students through creativity, performance, and storytelling while contributing to a thriving culture of performing arts excellence.

The successful applicant will ideally have:

  • Experience teaching Drama across Years 7 to 12, aligned with the Western Australian Curriculum;
  • Experience or interest in Musical Theatre, with opportunities to contribute to our growing school Musical Theatre program;
  • A collaborative and flexible approach, working closely with other Arts staff in a supportive and forward-thinking team environment.

Desirable attributes include:
  • Strong skills in directing, devising, and producing scripted and improvised performances;
  • Industry and/or school-based experience in stage productions, including directing or production management;
  • Experience or willingness to work with Performing Arts sound and lighting systems to support high-quality productions;
  • Previous involvement in school productions, performances, or showcases.

Our purpose-built Performing Arts Centre provides an outstanding teaching, rehearsal, and production environment, equipped with professional-standard staging, lighting, and sound facilities. Our Musical Theatre program continues to expand, offering students rich opportunities to develop their performance skills across acting, singing, and movement. Recent school productions have showcased the talent and dedication of both staff and students, reinforcing the strong culture of Performing Arts within the school.

All teaching staff at Harrisdale SHS are provided with a laptop and benefit from a high level of professional support, mentoring, and ongoing development opportunities.
